Scholes follows Henry’s Footsteps to a Perfect Return

Manchester United hosted Bolton Wanderers today. This time, it wasn’t a surprise that Paul Scholes was on the team sheet. What did take many by surprise was the fact that he was already starting a match as this was his second match since his return from retirement.

When Henry made his return for Arsenal, he did it by winning the match against Leeds United. When Scholes made his return, he made 71 passes with 97.2 % pass completion against rivals Manchester City, and he helped United stay in the FA Cup knocking out the defending champs wearing sky blue. Today, United kicked off the game having a few great opportunities, like a penalty awarded in the reds’ favor. Wayne Rooney stepped up to the spot, but he wasn’t good enough o beat Hungarian keeper, Adam Bogdan. United were creating chances but not finishing. As the first half was coming to a close, fans were expecting to go into the break 0-0, but with a cross from Rooney, Scholes netted hit 151st league goal to give the reds the first half advantage. In the second half, Danny Welbeck fought his way to scoring, but getting injured in the process. He came off as soon as he scored, being replaced by Chicharito. After that, it was smooth sailing as Michael Carrick bent a shot around the defenders and right next to the post. The match ended 3-0. Check out the highlights here:
