Welcome to Chelsea Señor Torres

It's official. After I doubted it from the start, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has finally layed out big money during the January transfer window and done so for one of the finest strikers the world has to offer.

A man that can find the back of the net, whether it be by foot, by knee, or by head has arrived to the sanctuary that is the Chelsea Football Club. The man they call el Niño is in fact the great Fernando Torres. Chelsea completed the transfer for a record £50m, agreeing to a five and a half year deal, which will earn him £175,000 a week. Torres was noticeably ecstatic to be making the switch from red to blue in an interview seen exclusively on Chelsea TV. He was quoted as saying, "It's always very tough to play against Chelsea. They are the biggest team in Europe." Words of wisdom from a fantastic player.

As a Blues supporter, it is needless to say, this is a huge addition to the team. Looking at seemingly, endless rolls of highlights, I am instantly struck by his arsenal of tricks and scoring weapons. While the six-yard box is where he really makes his money, he has also been known to hit the occasional long-range strike. The best way to utilize him in this new-look Chelsea lineup will be to start him alongside Didier Drogba up top, while putting more emphasis on quick counter-attacking and crosses. He will be the perfect compliment to Drogba's powerful boot in the penalty area. Many great counter-attacking plays involving the striker can be seen below.

Chelsea could be in trouble due to a report in the Guardian that the team has around £70m in total losses. But that would all sort itself out if Chelsea could win some more trophies this year. And to be honest if you're a Chelsea fan right now, debt is the last thing on your mind.
