Ryan Giggs signed a one-year contract extension with United the other day. The 37-year-old Welshman has had a phenomenal season taking over the left wing as Nani move to the right, filling in for injured Valencia. Valencia broke his leg earlier this season playing against Rangers in the group stages of the Champions League. He is likely to miss the rest of the season. As disappointing as this is, it gave Giggs the perfect opportunity to show he is worth more than just a super-sub. Now there is talk of Sir Alex trying to get a contract extension with Ryan’s good friend Paul Scholes. Scholes has been more of a super-sub this season than last, but still brings a great deal of confidence when stepping foot on the field, whether its at the start of the game, or with only 20 minutes left. Having these two players gives the rest of the players someone to look up too, and that’s important in a good team. With Neville recently retiring, I think United should try and keep hold of the few legends they have left, Giggs, Scholes and Ferdinand. Especially when Van Der Sar is already said to retire at the end of the season. Finding players like them will be hard, replacing them will be impossible.
