Jaguare and Twitter, Leo Messi and his 200th Barca goal, and recent racial outbreaks in the EPL

I’ve got a few things to talk about in this post. Let us start with our friends down in Mexico. Jaguares de Chiapas have decided to substitute players names with twitter handles on the back of their kits. The numbers is also featured in ‘twitter blue’ with a bird to the right of it. Now this must be a sponsorship but is also a fun idea. I have contacted Eurosport/Soccer.com to see if they will make a jersey with a custom handle, @flagisup perhaps? I will get back to you guys when I receive a response. In the mean time, check them out;
Next thing is Leo Messi scoring his 200th goal for Barcelona. He was awarded a penalty against Viktoria Plzen. He converted it to make 200 for Barcelona. He went on to score two more for the hat trick. Add one from Fabregas and you have the score line. Barcelona 4, Viktoria Plzen 0. He was also wearing his new boots this match, the new red/yellow adidas F50 adizero miCoach. This was a nice opportunity for an adidas advertisement. On their facebook page they wrote; “How does Leo Messi break in his new adiZero f50 for Barcelona? With a hat trick of course.”

Next on the agenda is John Terry apparently being a racist. Anton Ferdinand, QPR defender and brother of Manchester United center back Rio Ferdinand, accused John Terry of racist remarks during QPR’s 1-0 win over Chelsea. Terry denied and not the Football Association will be investigating. This was in the news soon after Man United defender Patrice Evra said he was racially abused by Luis Suarez in the 1-1 tie between United and Liverpool. Anton has also said that he had racial essages sent to him via Twitter. This must have sparked someone’s ideas the wrong way because, Sammy Ameobi, Newcastle striker and younger brother of Shola Ameobi, also a Newcastle striker, said he was also sent racist remarks through twitter. Newcastle have now gotten to police involved. Hopefully all of this nonsense will end because it has no place in the football world.
