MLS Playoffs 2011: LA v NY First Leg

LA Galaxy took the 1-0 win over New York Red Bulls on Sunday
with an early goal from Mike Magee. The match took place in Red Bull Arena,
therefore LA have the away goal advantage. Both teams had chances, but that was
the low score line we were left with. NY had more shots, but LA were more
accurate with their shots on goal percentage.
Juninho and Rafa Marquez were both shown red cards after Rafa threw the
ball at Donovan which caused Juninho to retaliate. They will have to sit out
the second leg match when Beckham, Donovan and Keane host Henry, Rodgers and
Ream. Here are some highlights;

After the match Landon Donovan spoke his mind by saying “In
all my years in the league, I’ve never played against a cheaper team, and they
have been doing it all year.” He said there was more than one play that New
York took cheap shots at LA. He went on to say “We saw it a few weeks ago with
Henry kneeing someone in the back.” Landon could have just said that because he
was frustrated with Rafa Marquez, or maybe it is true. Either way, both LA and
NY are two of the better teams in MLS so they will have a rivalry regardless of
how they play.
On a side note, the Debut of David Beckham’s new boots caught many boot enthusiasts’
eyes. The new adidas adipower features an adidas signature ‘electricity’ and
blue color way. He released pictures of the boots on his facebook page earlier
in the week. The boot featured his usual embroideries of his children’s names
and his personal logo. This logo was once known as a player made of different
shapes kicking a ball, in the stance Becks took his freekicks. Now it looks
like his new logo will be his name with a circle cut out of it. The color way
is yet again wild after his gold/red model. Here are some pictures.

What do you guys think will be the outcome of the second
leg? Will NY come back of will LA finish them off? And what do you thinks of
Beckham’s new boots?
