Goal of the Year? Manchester Derby

The Manchester Derby was one of the best match ups this season. United getting back from their first loss of the season against Wolverhampton, they had to prove themselves. City has been looking to close in on United all season, but couldn’t pull them back in it.

The match was very equal, both teams having great attacking opportunities as well as great defensive plays. 5 minutes before the intermission, Rooney gave a header to Giggs, who gave a perfect pass to Nani as he slide it past City keeper, Joe Hart. In the second half, Edin Dzeko replaced Milner, making a great impact, almost instantly. In the 65th minute, he took a shot which deflected off of David Silva’s back to then hit the back of the net. United really couldn’t do anything about it. United stepped up their game, and when the ball got to Nani, City didn’t pressure as much as they could have. He gave in the cross which had a deflection and made its way towards Rooney. He put his back against the target, and let the bicycle fly. He had perfect contact with the ball, ripping it into the far side of the net. Joe Hart stood still, as he saw he had no chance. This goal is definitely a title contender for the Goal of the Season, and by whom else but the man who has been trying for the comeback. United are now 8 points clear of City and 7 of Arsenal. Arsenal are still to play Wolverhampton. The wolves want to now take three points from second place after their unlikely win against United last weekend
