Barcelona took down La Liga rivals Real Madrid on a 3-1 aggregate. Messi scoring two in the Bernabau. In Camp Nou, Pedro and Marcelo each got one. Barca definitely out played madrid hold majority of the possession in both games. Madrid on the other hand really looked rto have a great chance of moving to the next stage. It was at the beginning of the second leg where they produced many great chances just no goals, and the late one by the Brazilian defender just wasn't enough.
The English leaders Manchester United played Schalke 04 and annihilated them on a 6-1 aggregate. In Germany United took a 2-0 win with a much deserved goal for Giggs and one for Rooney as well. In Old Trafford, United left out a couple key players from the line-up, saving their ammunition for Sunday's game against Chelsea. The home team tallied up four goals, by three scorers. Valencia, Gibson and two for Anderson. Schalke managed one goal by Jurado, but it just didn't cut it.
*Note, when reading the next section of the post, be aware that I am being totally bias for Manchester.*
Two of the most decorated teams are now matched up for the final, and it can very well be the game of the year. By the time of the final, we will know whether the two finish their domestic leagues in first. Personally, I think Barcelona will jump into the game way too confident. They will be expecting a replay from 2009. United also deserve it a lot more, they had a great season considering Chelsea had won the EPL last year, and to top it off, the Final will be Van Der Sar's last game of his career. United also went through a rough patch after selling two to attackers, Tevez and Ronaldo. This is their change to shine once again. Mainly as a fan though, I just want United to win so VDS can retire a champion. We will get to witness this year’s champions come May 28.
Who are you looking forward to lifting the trophy this year?
