Tottenham land Adebayor on a loan deal, Man City sign Nasri, Eto'o becomes the world's highest paid player and Robbie Keane comes to LA

Hi guys, so we haven’t been posting for a while and we missed our last podcast but Twil has been on vacation so we decided to skip it. As for the lack of posts, we have been super busy so we are going to do what we can. In the meantime, follow us on Twitter (@flagisup) for daily tweets on current matches and other soccer news. You can find a link on the right sidebar. Also like us on facebook (http://www.facebook.com/?ref=hp#!/pages/The-Flag-Is-Up-Soccer-Blog/171246266253046) for updates on posts. Man City made another summer signing, Samir Nasri. Everyone figured he'd leaves wanting more chances at silverware, and he also wanted to leave after Captain Cesc Fabregas left to Barcelona. There were rumors of him being angry with the gunners and he was leaving with anger, but he told the media that the facebook account was fake and he has no problems with the club. Whether this is true or not, Nasri is officially a City player. The transfer fee was £25 million.

White Heart Lane squad Tottenham Hotspurs are excited to welcome Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor. The former Arsenal man now plays for Manchester City but went on loan to Real Madrid for the second semester of last season after dropping out of the starting 11. After City has such a selection of striker, i.e. Tevez, Dzeko, Aguero etc., they accepted the offer from Spurs. Spurs figured he would fit in perfectly because of his poor exit from Arsenal, therefore spurs fans will already have a liking for him.

In other news, Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala made Samuel Eto’o the world’s highest paid player, making €20.5m per season. He has a three-year contract with the club. As many have speculated, it’s a take it and run deal. He is now 30 years old and getting this offer won’t come around again, so he can take this money and after three years, he will get on with the remainder of his soccer career. The action of buying Eto’o could be the same idea as Schalke 04 had when buying Raul. They want to qualify for the Champions League and this might be their ticket in. He already scored on his debut which is a good sign for the club. Either way, Beckham, Ronaldo and Messi better step up the sponsorships if they want to get back on top of the highest paid players list.

LA Galaxy has made another big transfer of the Irish man, Robbie Keane. He signed a two-year deal which is believed to be worth £3.5 million. Keane is now one of LA’s designated players. Galaxy sold one of their previous designated players, Juan Pablo Angel to make room for Keane. Angel went to Chivas USA. Keane said he always wanted to play in MLS so he took his first opportunity.

So now we are four days away from the transfer window deadline, are we in store for any other big transfers? Wenger now has a lot of money to spend with the income for Fabregas and Nasri. He has made a few purchases but nothing major and the club is full of doubt already for this season.

What big transfers would you like to see in the dying days of the summer transfer window?
