Is David Beckham headed to PSG?

There has been constant news about Englishman David Beckham heading back to Europe to finish his footballing career. Even last year, everyone was certain he was going to England once the new year came around. He did end up going to Tottenham, but just for a training loan. Harry Redknapp wanted to catch him on a 3 month loan, but LA Galaxy’s staff didn’t allow the deal. He played his heart out in the MLS season and finally added the MLS Cup to his list of awards. His contract with LA is now over and he must figure out what he wants from here.

There is a possibility that he might extend his contract and stay in LA. He could possibly take a third AC Milan loan, but it seems unlikely as Milan are chasing Carlos Tevez, how is currently looking for a new squad. Harry Redknapp could finally see his dream of coaching Beckham come true, by actually signing him this time around. This is all possible and more (perhaps a short term deal with his former club Manchester United? I’ll never doubt it). No matter what happens, as of now, Paris Saint-Germain seems to be the leaders in the quest to sign Becks.

Some are excited to have Becks play in yet another league, but at the same time, some feel he isn’t there to play football. No matter what, Beckham will add an iconic face to any club, and produce a lot of viewers and jersey sales, but his professionalism and skill will also benefit the club. PSG’s Sylvain Armand says that Beckham doesn’t play top-flight football and isn’t welcome in Paris. I personally think it’s funny that he says this because MLS side New York Red Bulls beat PSG this summer. Then you look at how LA won the MLS Cup meaning they are the best MLS side right now. Honestly, this sounds like a stunt for a not so popular player to get his name in the news. Or maybe he is just really jealous of David.

There are rumors of an 18 month contract with $1.05 million/month in store for Beckham. As a stated earlier, Tevez is also looking for a new squad, and PSG also look favorites to sign him as well. If PSG come through and sign both Tevez and Beckham, do you think they will make a good partnership? I can just imagine, Becks putting in a world famous cross being smashed home by Tevez.

Any thoughts on the Transfer?

  1. i don't think tevez would make a good partnership with anybody. he's just a self-centered douche.

if psg were to sign beckham, tevez, or both it would further secure my hatred toward them as you guys know.

tevez could actually work for psg though, provided they kept his time there short as he burns out at clubs when he stays there too long. the club looks like they'll be dominant in the near future so tevez probably won't complain and act up too much. if his primadonna needs are met and his team is winning he might choose to give his all. the one thing they'll need to watch out for though is that with all the star power psg, the club needs to be very careful to spoon-feed him his ego boosts as he can't be outshined. he needs to be among the top names on a team and at psg he runs the risk of that not being the case.
